Look, if you can't derive happiness from even two strains of cancer cells being selectively killed off, (without proof of it not working on others) I suspect there is little to derive happiness from. Let's be enthusiastic about this eh?
Look, it's not 2 "strains" of cancer. You don't "catch" these particular "strains" of cancer from someone else like you do with bacteria or viruses. Everyone's cancer is unique to that individual. It's unlikely that someone with breast cancer will have the SAME EXACT mutations as those that spawned the specific cell lines used in the experiment. Plus, No one knows how well these immortal cell lines, grown for generations in petri dishes, correlate with the original cancer in a person. And all they've done so far are some mouse experiments. It's still FAR away and a shitton of money and work required before it can work in people, maaybe. Don't hold your breath.
And again, if this was something to get enthusiastic about, it wouldn't be in the journal "Breast Cancer Research".

Zero Punctuation: Uncharted 2 Among Thieves
Uncharted 2 is the best game I've played in many many years, sure it doesn't bring a lot of new concepts to gaming but what it does do, it does so well, that it could almost be called revolutionary against the tidal wave of shit we otherwise receive.
And I don't think it's particular easy for games to look this good, the amount of detail in Uncharted 2 is staggering and it has some of the best animation and voice acting I've ever seen hands down, never noticed his bug eye comment, I thought the characters showed a tonne of emotion. What are essentially fully playable cinematics are also both technically and graphically amazing, the set pieces in Uncharted 2 are like nothing I've seen in any game. I did not want to put this game down at any point, it is entirely engaging start to finish and for me, I LOVE the fact that it bases its story on ancient legends, that's one of the best parts!
So what you're saying is that the game has good graphics and plays well, which is no different from what Yahtzee says. Some people expect more from a "great" game than good looks and technical excellence. You know, something like originality. And it's hypocritical that you diss on MW2, which is also filled with graphical and technical excellence, just not in your preferred style.

Im not saying the guy is not smart or right he just does not seem very tolerant. Which in the way I view things people who are not tolerant are like animals and less evolved.
WTF does tolerance have to do with evolution? I highly doubt being more tolerant gives you an evolutionary advantage. Pretty poor choice of words there, not to mention the blatant hypocrisy of you not being able to tolerate Dawkins' attitude.

I do think they cultivate such an environment, perhaps not intentionally in all cases - but the relationship between patients and doctors, in my experience is mostly about domination and control. I'm not against medical science, I am for breaking down the walls between the medical world and consumers.
That is starting to change. The old generation of doctors, especially surgeons do have a paternalistic relationship with their patients. However, for quite a while now, medical education has shifted heavily to a patient centered, team based approach.
And as E_Nygma pointed out, it is great that your births went well. But having worked in Obstetrics and seen some of the fucking complication nightmares that can occur, it is ridiculous for me to even consider a birth without some form of OR and surgical team ready on hand. And there is such a huge shortage of OBs that it's hard to find one who is not overworked and overstressed. They do it out of a sense of duty to their communities and their profession. They sacrifice their personal lives so that in case the shit hits the fan, there's someone there to save you. And it's not that some OB's prefer C-Sections just for their patients for profit. Studies show that a significant portion of OBs prefer, and select C-sections for themselves. It's not some industry trying to screw you out of your money.
And painting epidurals as something unnecessary, and used instead to line the OB's pockets, is so ignorant. You might as well say the same thing of antibiotics, vaccines, and anesthetics in general.
